ACTING REEL : DREAMS AND DECEIT

As a cinema student, I found it fitting to incorporate some of my interests into my Creative Project, such as Acting, Directing, Script Writing, and cinematography. My Integrating Activity Final Project will consist of an Acting Reel: three, 45-second videos of vastly different scenes, acted, written, and directed by me.

  • The first scene will be inspired by The Greatest Showman, inspired by my own dreams that are larger than life. It will be about this girl who wishes to pursue her dreams. This scene will show joy, optimism, and borderline delusion from its main character.

  • The second scene is inspired by To The Bone, inspired by my own demons and issues. It will be about unattainable dreams, standards, and trying so desperately to live up to those standards. Referencing eating disorders, in this scene, a girl confronts and denies a healthy life and those trying to help her get better. A confrontational scene filled with anger, deceit, trauma, and sadness.

  • The third scene is a scene about sabotaging and dwelling on “what could have been”. An inmate accused of murder reminisces about the perfect life she dreamed about with her now-dead husband. This scene will show the mind of a high-functioning sociopath manipulating anyone who has the misfortune of falling for her charms.

These three scenes will show my versatility and range of emotion in my acting. The three scenes combined tell a story:  A cautionary tale to myself.

The Acting Reel in total will be approximately 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Its prime focus being me/my character, as it is my acting I am trying to promote. The scenes will have everything from costumes to props. My own script will be acted. Showing the most professionalism possible. It will be filmed with a DSLR camera and will be edited using Premiere.

I’ve chosen to do an Acting Reel since I am likely to pursue studies in acting and performance. All while combining the content, I have learned throughout Cegep. This Acting Reel will be the culmination of my creativity, talent, and knowledge. Showing my directive skills, makeup and costume skills, acting chops, and scriptwriting abilities. It will demonstrate what I am capable of. And will show my versatility as an actor.

This video will be delivered as an online Media, like a Youtube video or an Instagram video, most importantly a video you send to a casting director. This video is to be published where it has the most optimal exposure, hopefully, to be seen by directors and casting directors.
