Integrating Activity
Winter 2021

SELF EVALUATION
1. My IA final project relates to my program of study at Dawson because I utilized many of the skills developed during my program. My project is an acting reel, in which I wrote the scripts, directed the filming process, acted in, and edited. Throughout my ALC cinema/communication program at Dawson, I have taken classes to improve my Script Writing, my editing skills, my directive, and filming skills, and my acting skills. All in all, I made a project that relates to what I aspire to do with the skills I have learned at Dawson.

2. I was hoping to communicate my acting skills. I wanted to show off a bit. I wanted people to see my range and believe my characters. I wanted the audience to be moved by my characters and be happy or angry with them. I wanted to communicate a type of extreme happiness and dream-like life in the first scene and in the second I wanted to convey that sadness felt from her, the self-hatred. I wanted to communicate some sort of empathy towards her.
3. At the end, when my project was completed and presented, I believe it nearly measured up to my personal standards of excellence. I am proud of what I have done in the short amount of time it took. Personally, my standard of excellence would be if I had amazing sound, image, script, acting, and editing. In this project, I think the sound was good, the script was pretty good, the framing was experimental in some instances and the acting and editing were good. However, I will never be able to achieve my personal standard of excellence. I always want to do better. Fortunately, this does not hinder my ability to be proud of the work I have done. I am proud of my project, it is not perfect and neither am I. If it were perfect I'd have nowhere to go!

4. If given the opportunity to re-do this project, I would change many things. I would want to have a bigger crew. I would have started the project earlier to make sure I was able to do all three scenes. I would have workshopped the script more since I believe it could have been reworked just a bit. I think it was a shame that I could not create all three scenes, however, I am proud of the two I have created.

5. I would rate my experience in participating in a student-driven project positively because it taught me a lot. I thought it was very interesting and it was fun being able to have time to create a personal project. I would rate my experience in Integrating Activity a 5/5 it was fun and allowed for my own creativity to come to fruition.

PARTICIPATION

I would give my participation grade at around 9.5/10.

Throughout the semester, I have been an active participant in this class, oftentimes asking questions, giving advice, or simply giving my input to the subject being discussed. I was one of the few students that often turned my camera on. Although it was not always on, I still was on camera much more than most. I connected on zoom on time and made sure I had done the homework or the assignments on time. When working in groups I worked well with the other students, giving my creative input and constructive criticism of the project. I also provided commentary on other people's projects suggesting subtle changes and different ways in which those people could make their project convey the message intended. I believe my participation throughout the semester was very good. I was engaged with the classes and the discussions and did not shy away from giving my opinion all while remaining respectful to everyone. I can say I added value to the experience of the group, through my dynamic personality, discussion comments, constructive feedback, and advising other students. Whether it be during class time, in the chat, or through private messaging, I was ready to help. And I did help.
